Do I need to confess all my sins before I can be saved?:

During the process of initiation for unbelievers to become believers, some Christian leaders tell these persons to confess all their sins/errors before they can be saved. This is erroneous because scripture does not say that. Scripture states: “That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shall be saved” (Romans 10:9). What is important is to confess with your mouth the Lordship of Jesus and believe in your heart. If it is about confessing all sins/errors, how is it possible to remember all or most of our sins and confess them before being saved? One can imagine the ‘workload’ that would have been on aged persons who want to be saved.

The principle of confession is also very relevant in our walk with the Lord. Like the rudder of a ship, our tongues and confessions have impact on our bodies and consequently steer us towards our destiny (Joshua 1:8). Out of the abundance of the heart (spirit), the mouth speaks (Matthew 12:34).
