THE REVELATION OF GOD IN NATURE

The world around us suggests that there is certainly a creator. Nature is designed in an intelligent way and this suggests that there is an intelligent designer therefore the revelation of God in nature. The design and beauty of nature and the laws of nature such as gravity, flotation and many others point to an intelligent person who is above and greater than all. This person is God Almighty.

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” (Genesis 1:1).
“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth His handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech and night unto night sheweth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard” (Psalm 19:1-3).

Nature has a unique language which is heard in every location on this earth. All human beings are accountable to God because of the revelation of God through nature. This is seen in Romans 1:19-20. “Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse”.

Nonetheless, the revelation of God in nature is insufficient because one cannot know God personally through nature. Creation does not bring man into contact with God. Creation portrays the power of God but does not portray the personality of God to man. Nature is supposed to act like a billboard by pointing man to God. However, a lot of people have not come into a personal relationship with God- rather, they have chosen and exalted some creations as gods (Roman 1:25). It is to our own benefit as human beings to come to the personal knowledge of God.
