Some obstacles to healing 1

healing

Good health is very necessary for every individual on this earth. Without good health, man cannot function and be a blessing in this world. The fall of the original man in the Garden of Eden has brought about diseases and infirmities to mankind. However, the glorification of Jesus after His resurrection brought hope to man in terms of living above obstacles including diseases. The Church has played an important role in ensuring that sick people get their healing. Medical research has also done so much work to help overcome some diseases and infirmities in the world. There are some obstacles to divine healing and this article will address some of these obstacles. These obstacles may also apply to medical healing.

Some people do not receive divine healing because of lack of preparation. Preparation involves inundating yourself with the word of God first before expecting your healing. You must know what God has said in His word concerning diseases and infirmities. God’s word is life and spirit and without it, you cannot be ready to receive your healing. With God, it is instruction first before the results. Any piece of electrical equipment bought from a shop can only function when one reads the instruction about the equipment. Without God’s instructions, one will be full of unbelief and divine healing cannot be received (Mark 6). One of God’s instructions is that, ‘all things are possible to him that believeth’. Faith comes by listening to God’s word; faith is that which receives from God.

Some people are not healed because they are questioning in their mind and heart whether or not it is the will of God to heal them. You don’t say in one instance that ‘ I believe God will heal me’ and in the next instance, you confess ‘I don’t know if God will heal me’. Contradictory confessions will robe you of God’s healing. Be conscious of your confessions and always confess God’s word or confess in the affirmative. The slightest wavering in your mind and spirit will make the power of God inoperative and you will not be healed. Matthew 8 is clear that it is the will of God for us to be healed and be in health always. In 1 Peter 2:24, it states ‘…by whose stripes ye were healed’.

Sin can also limit one from receiving healing. ‘Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: and the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him (James 5:15-15)’. This is not to say that anybody not receiving healing is living in sin. However, it is one of the areas to evaluate if a person is not receiving his or her healing. In trouble shooting, all areas are examined in order to successfully shoot the problem. Sometimes, holding grudges in the heart; looking down on other people; bitterness and unforgiving spirit are all limitations to receiving healing. These poison the human spirit to receive healing.
